On numerous occasions, the firm had provided representations to those in need in criminal matters on a pro bono basis and have successsfully defended them in the criminal courts.
The firm had also undertaken major work in assisting the native people (Orang Asli) of Kota Tinggi, in particular the Jakuns, in recovering compensation monies which were mismanaged / misappropriated by their former trustees. The case went on from 2005 to 2020 and up to the Federal Court. The trial went on for more that 70 days at the High Court and was appealed by the Defendants to the Court of Appeal (18 days) and the Federal Court with the final verdict in favour of the Orang Asli. Currently, the firm is in the process of recovering the judgment sum. All carried out on a pro bono basis.
The firm’s managing partner is also appointed by the Attorney-General of Malaysia as a counsel by way of a fiat to represent the Federal Government of Malaysia for and on behalf of the Orang Asli of Gua Musang (the Temiar Community) to undertake representation of the Orang Asli against the Kelantan State Government concerning their native and ancestral land rights in Gua Musang, Kelantan.
